The TCS230/TCS3200 color detector sensor combines configurable silicon photo diodes and a current-to-frequency converter on a single monolithic CMOS integrated circuit. The full-scale output frequency of this color sensor can be scaled by one of three preset values via two control input pins. This TCS230 color sensor come with digital input and output which allow direct interface to a microcontroller or other logic circuitry.
TCS230 uses 8x8 matrix photo diodes to sense colour and converts the current reading in to frequency, so you will get square wave output which can be feed in to Arduino or any microcontroller to get the frequency reading which will tell you the colour based on its value.
